When our clients first approached us, they were undecided whether they should extend and refurbish the existing house or replace it.
The easiest way to help our clients make their decision was for our Design Studio to prepare initial drawings for both the extension and major refurb and for a replacement dwelling.
Once our clients could see the drawings for both options, it became very apparent that the only way to achieve exactly what they wanted was to replace the dwelling.
To take advantage of the spectacular views of the Peak District the house was designed with all of the main living accommodation and Master Bedroom on the first floor with a balcony to the rear.
We seamlessly co-ordinated all of the necessary information required to submit the planning application which went through without any problems. As soon as the Planning Officer had indicated that an approval would be issued, the Building Regulations application was submitted at which point we went out to tender to our extensive Network of builders.
Following meetings on site between the builders and clients, a shortlist was compiled and arrangements were made for the clients to see reference sites before appointing their chosen builder.
Work is progressing well on site using a local network builder of ours who has successfully completed six other self build projects on our behalf. The tiling is nearing completion using Marley Eternit Hawkins clay tiles in Fired Sienna which complements the simulated handmade brick. Ultra-slim aluminium sliding doors with 20mm sightlines, supplied in a chosen bespoke colour on the first floor level further enhance the views over the Peak District.
