These clients were taking early retirement and were living in Lancashire but were building their new home in Devon. They had very little knowledge of the building industry so opted for a ‘hands-off’ build route with D&M Homes.
The primary objective was to create a dwelling that reflected the general restraints of the plot and adjacent dwellings. The use of the low profile ridge line and extended roof slopes created a dwelling which sits into the plot and uses the mature boundary hedges to limit the visual impact upon the rural scene.
Given that the clients were living a few hundred miles from site they wanted the peace of mind that their project would be overseen by our experienced Project Co-Ordinator who lived locally.
We identified a number of local builders, one of which was tasked to build the dwelling. Access to the site presented difficulties which were overcome by careful procurement of materials by our experienced Materials Department.
“We had no knowledge of building so we needed someone with real experience. It was also important that the people we chose understood our needs and aspirations and just as importantly, who would respect our budget.”
