When we design a D&M Home, you:

Invaluable Self-Build Experience

Some ‘self-builders’ prefer an in depth involvement overseeing day to day relationships in the build process. Others prefer the prospect of having a bespoke home delivered for them. With D&M Homes you can be involved as much or as little as you are able and our service ensures that you can choose all the things that are important to you, guided at every stage by our experienced team of experts.

D&M Homes will design your home; achieve planning permission; carry out all of the detailed design, specifications and tender documents; and provide a budget for a fixed price build contract.

If you are happy with the estimate, we will submit your Building Regulations applications, finalise your specification and tender the work to proven builders to enable us to provide you with an all-in fixed figure for the build. So before you start building, you will be certain of what your costs are going to be.

Included in the build figure will be the discharge of Planning Conditions, full working drawings, supply of high quality materials along with our materials price and quantities guarantees, and the full backup of our team throughout the build.

1. Planning & Design Co-ordination

During the design stage, D&M Homes will:

  • advise you on planning requirements;
  • highlight design limitation factors;
  • highlight any problems, then recommend solutions or alternative/additional ideas;
  • expertly help you navigate the complex Planning Permission issues; and
  • deal with the Design & Access Statement, Reports and any paperwork necessary.

2. Tender Specifications & Building Regulations

For your self-build project, D&M Homes will produce extensive documentation, which includes:

  • technical drawings and specifications;
  • tender documents; and
  • Building Regulation submissions.

We will also review your project fully with you to help ensure that appropriate budgets are allocated for all of the various aspects of a build project.

3. Choosing the Right Materials

We have years of experience helping clients to choose their materials and will patiently guide you through your options and cost them for you. We believe that:

  • materials should be sympathetic and compatible with your design;
  • quality materials and finishing are things you can’t always touch but you can feel; and
  • material choices go far deeper than tactile or visual appeal and create the reassuring ambience that makes a true home; a home that is individual, welcoming, comfortable and relaxing.

4. Tendering

We understand that finding the right construction company is important. D&M Homes will:

  • co-ordinate the tender process;
  • aim to achieve a fixed price for the labour elements of the build; and
  • provide you with a fixed price for the materials that will be needed for your build which includes our project co-ordination and advice.

Your self-build; Expertly delivered

D&M Homes remain involved during the construction process allowing you to continue your everyday occupation. The contractor on site deals with the day to day management of the build.

We provide 3 simple packages for you to choose from:

  • Weathertight Shell – where you manage the internal trades
  • Complete Build – where you oversee the final finishes, kitchen & bathrooms
  • Turnkey – where we do everything on your behalf, handing over the keys to a finished house

We’re one of the UK’s leading package suppliers for masonry homes, but we also use other materials including Thin-Joint Blockwork, SIPS (Structurally Insulated Panels), and Timber Frame.
